Projects & Business Consultancy

This area covers the documents a project is judged on: the project report, the feasibility study, the projections, and the business plan behind them.

All of them exist to be tested by somebody else, a lender, an investor or an approving authority. They are prepared accordingly, with the assumptions stated where a reader can find and question them.

Project reports

Detailed Project Reports prepared to the standard a lender, an investor or an approving authority will actually test, with the assumptions stated rather than buried. Feasibility and viability studies where the question is whether a project should proceed at all, and on what terms.

Financial projections

Projections and CMA data prepared on stated assumptions, so that a reader can see what drives the numbers and test them independently.

How an engagement proceeds

01

Scoping and assumptions

Before anything is drafted we establish what the report is for and who will test it. A report written for a bank and one written for an approving authority are not the same document.

02

Data and projections

Financials, projections and CMA data are built on assumptions agreed with you in writing, so that nothing in the report is a number you have not seen justified.

2 to 4 weeks
03

Drafting

The report is prepared with annexures, and reviewed with you before it goes anywhere.

2 to 3 weeks
04

Submission and follow-through

Queries from the lender, investor or authority are answered, and the report revised where the position genuinely changes.

Frequently asked questions

Assumptions are written down and agreed before the numbers are built. A projection whose drivers are not visible cannot be defended when a lender or an authority questions it, and it is that questioning the document exists to survive.

No. Sanction is the decision of the lender or the authority. What a properly prepared report does is present the case on the merits, in the form the reader expects, without gaps that invite a refusal on process rather than substance.

Yes, and the two are usually more efficient together, since the documentation a lender requires is then known before the report is written rather than after.

Yes. Tender, EOI, RFP and contract documentation for government, semi-government, PSU and municipal projects is handled in the Government and PSU consultancy area, and the two areas work together where a project spans both.
